Paint the Town Gold
Paint the Town Gold” is a community-driven awareness and fundraising campaign led by Sawyer’s Warriors during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month (September). The initiative encourages local businesses to participate by allowing us to decorate their storefront windows with gold ribbons and awareness messaging using chalk markers, transforming everyday spaces into visible reminders of childhood cancer.
Alongside raising awareness, we also ask participating businesses for donations, making this campaign an effective way to both generate funding for our mission and spark meaningful conversations within the community.
I take on a wide range of responsibilities within this campaign. I co-lead outreach by connecting with local businesses and inviting them to participate, coordinate and manage volunteers for window painting, and contribute directly by painting storefronts myself. I also design campaign materials, including flyers, to ensure clear and engaging communication.
Through this experience, I’ve developed strong communication and relationship-building skills, particularly in pitching the campaign to business owners. I’ve also strengthened my leadership and organizational abilities by coordinating volunteers and managing logistics, while continuing to grow my creative skills through visual design and hands-on execution.
This campaign represents how I use creativity and initiative to drive real impact, turning local spaces into platforms for awareness while supporting a cause that is deeply personal to me.
